Delayed Departure

Unfortunately, I still haven't made it outside the US. There were some errors in my application for my Brazilian visa, so I can't leave until that gets straightened out.

This caused me to cancel my flight and miss the new year in Chile which I had planned to spend with friends and family there. I should hear whether or not I have been approved later this week, and hopefully can get on my way to Chile shortly after. I am nervous they will not grant it though since my plane ticket date has now passed, in which case I will not be able to go to Chile at all.

It is really a bummer because the visa processing time is two weeks and the Brazilian Consulate will not update me or ask for missing materials during that time. Because of this, when they received my first application and saw there were missing documents (which I had submitted online), rather than emailing me or calling me to request the documents the consulate waited two weeks and then mailed my application back saying I was missing the documents. Now on my second time around applying for the visa, with the holidays there is closer to a three week time line.

I really hope everything works out, but there really isn't anything I can do but wait for now. I have started to pack, but now have no idea when I will leave. It is very hard because I have already had to drastically cut down on the time I would have to visit my friends and family in Chile that I have not seen in almost three years and may not even get the chance to see them. Additionally I cannot plan anything because I do not know when or if they will approve my application. I cannot pick up a job or take a class or even get a gym membership until I go, because I have no clue when I will be leaving. The only thing I can do is wait and this is difficult because I really like to have a purpose and things to keep me busy.
